Sammy uses Bluetooth LE to connect to your phone. The typical range of Bluetooth LE is 15 to 30m. The actual range depends on your specific location because the Bluetooth signal can be absorbed by walls or other hard objects. In an open area (e.g. outside in a park) the range can extend up to 50m.
When you go out of range, the Bluetooth connection between Sammy and your phone is lost. If Sammy is awake, then the app will send a notification to let you know that you are no longer connected. You can also tell when Sammy has disconnected because her icon in the app changes.
Sammy continues to work when you’re phone is out of range. She will bleep every time she detects motion, if she is awake and not not muted. But remember, you will not receive any motion alerts on your phone while Sammy is disconnected!
Sammy automatically reconnects when you come back into range. You will receive a notification to let you know and if Sammy detected motion while you were away the app will let you know.
Don’t worry, when Sammy has been set to sleep we won’t bother notify you if she disconnects.
It depends how much you use Sammy and how often she screams! She has a simple coin cell battery that will last approximately:
Sammy Screamer uses a CR2032 lithium ion coin cell battery.
The battery can be replaced easily by a unscrewing the single screw on the battery compartment to rear of the device. The battery needs to be inserted with the positive (+) side upwards.
Warning! There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
